so basically, a lotta ppl online like to posture. they want to be badass, cool, the edgy kid - they call themselves things like “freak” or “fagdyke gendertrash scum” etc. and thats fine on its own, im not opposed to edge. BUT. theres a lot of ppl online who want to talk that talk but not walk that walk, and when a trans woman online does something that wouldnt fly in a conservative midwestern town in the USA, they wanna throw her under the bus as fast as they can. because her walking the walk does actually scare them, because theyre just posturing. theyre something worse than edgy: theyre Posers.
anyways (I say this as someone who is deeply critical of the united states government, military, unchecked capitalism, police, etc) I am SICK of people treating america as if it has no cultural value or positives so….. For y’all in the notes saying “well actually rock n roll and the food here were made by marginalized communities who were discriminated against” I hate to break it to you but you’re like two steps away from saying “well black people and Mexicans aren’t actually American the same way white people are” because whatever the reason, whether it was through oppression or not, BIPOC have influenced American culture an incredible amount and it’s so disrespectful and racist to say they don’t actually count as Americans
American culture isn’t exclusively white culture. American culture is far deeper and more diverse than that.
remember how profanity was made out to be the worst thing in the world when you were a kid and then when you grew up everyone was like “just kidding, nobody actually cares, we were just doing that so we could yell at you”
Sometimes I come across Real Actual Adults who get upset over swearing and every time they’re like the most sheltered bizarre extreme-christian-upbringing, and for them it’s also just a weird judging thing. Like where in the bible does it say “don’t say fuck”, point it out to me you little trad shit
i hate when people use “#yeah i’ll reblog that” on very high effort posts like fanart and stuff that probably took OP hours. “#yeah i’ll reblog that” is for text posts that just say “jackin’ off my beanstalk” or whatever
“When I started working in theatre in England, I would meet people, and they would say ‘Oh, I voted for Margaret Thatcher.’ The first time I heard someone saying that, I honestly thought they were joking. I’d be thinking, I have never met anyone from your world. What’s it like? Do you roast children over open fires?”
Another fun thing I do with customers - specifically parents of very small children who don’t know they’re alive yet - is directly imply I think the coffee is for the baby, not the parent. and lemme tell you, like 70% of parents eat that shit up. They immediately go along with the bit and start discussing it with their newborn child, while the baby just stares at us like 😮
